Calculator for Bending Stress and radius of curvature of Beam with Rectangular section

This calculator uses Flexure formula for beam which gives bending stress σ= M/S where M = bending moment at the section and S is section modulus of the section. Radius of curvature , r = EI/M where E = modulus of elasticity, I = moment of inertia, M = bending moment at the beam section. Sagging moment is taken as positive whereas hogging moments as negative. Neutral axis of the beam section is at x-axis. It calculates positive (tensile) and negative (compressive) bending stress after calculating Moment of inertia and section modulus. This calculator also calculates the value of plastic section modulus (Z) and shape factor. Please enter the "Input Values" in the form given below and click "Calculate".
