What is bending moment at a section of beam?

load is applied on a member from a reference point on member
load * by distance from that reference point is bending moment at that point
bending moment is represented by M or BM= load * distance at which moment is requird
Unit can be tonne metre or Nmm
capacity of a section to resist this bending moment is known as MR or moment of resistance represented by same unit as M or BM

Bending moment is defined as the moment of resistance of the section. It is equal to the algebraic sum of moment of forces on either side of the section
